1909. This is the first studio Stember had in St. Petersburg and was on Galernaya Street. On the left is a painting of the famous ballerina, Olga Preobrajenska #152, and partly seen, the artists daughter Sonia #83. On the back wall at left is the nude 'Slumber #73. The small painting on the top is #184 'Standing Nude.' Next is 'Carmen, # 149 and higher, 2 paths in the woods in Dubrachok. Under it is a model from Munich at left, 'Salome' #65 with the head of John the Baptist which the buyer of the painting asked to be removed. Stember painted out the head and painted a mirror on the table instead of a platter. Stember is sitting in the chair reading.
