Nadya is a 1912 portrait by the Russian artist Victor Stember.
Portrait of Stember's daughter Nadya, painted in Petrograd (St. Petersburg) in 1912.
Nadya was painted by her father a total of 10 times, eight of which are shown here in the website and two which were never photographed.
Nadya was born in 1893, married Mikhail Sokolov and had a son together, Kirill, who died at age 3 of scarlet fever. His tragic death is detailed in the artists Diary which is included in this site.
Nadya later married Prince Vladimir Litvinov and they had a daughter Ksenia.
Postcards of this painting can be found on various antique postcard websites under 'Stember'. Some of the series were sold for a charity 'Society for the Care of Beggars.'
