Lilacs is a 1912 portrait by the Russian artist Victor Stember.

The artist's daughter wrote on the back of the large black and white photo that the family has in it's possession:  'This picture was purchased by the Grand Duke Kirill (Cyril) Vladimirovich of Russia for 2,500 rubles in 1914.'  Grand Duke Cryil purchased another painting in 1913 by Stember 'On A Hot Summer Day' which is # 56 on this site.

Grand Duke Kirill was a member of the Russian Imperial family.  After the Russian Revolution of 1917 and the deaths of his cousins Tsar Nicholas II and Grand Duke Michael, Kirill assumed the Headship of the Imperial Family of Russia and as next in line to the throne.
