On a Hot Summer Day is a 1903 painting by the Russian artist Victor Stember.
'This picture was purchased by the Grand Duke Cyril of Russia for 3,500 rubles. Moscow 1903' was written on the back of a large black and white photo that is in the possession of the family. The artist's daughter Natasha wrote this information.
Grand Duke Cyril purchased another of Stember's works: # 63-Lilacs, in 1913.
The Grand Duke, Krill Vladimirovich was a member of the Russian Imperial Family. His cousin was Tsar Nicholas II and after the death of the Tsar and other cousins, Cyrill assumed the Headship of the Imperial Family of Russia as next in line to the throne. He died in Neuilly, France in 1928 at the age of 62.Archival Records of This Work
