Italian is a 1895 portrait by the Russian artist Victor Stember.

The family believes that this painting appears to be of the same girl with the tambourine (#39).  Note the earrings, curly hair and headscarf.  The large black and white photo in the possession of the family has written on the back: 'An Italian'  Rome 1895.  This portrait was not included in the 25th Anniversary Exhibition so it is presumed to have sold before that time.
