Portrait of Pastor A.V. Farmann (Fuhrman)

The portrait is of Pastor A.V. Fuhrman (alternate spelling: Farmann).  He was Pastor at the Kirche (Church) of St. Peter on Nevsky Prospect in St. Petersburg as told to the family by a curator at The Hermitage: Madame Augusta Pobedinskaya. The reference number there is #1555 and the artists name is spelled as Shtemberg, an alternative to Stember.

Artist Stember signed the portrait not in Cyrillic as he usually did but in 'German' according to The Hermitage.  One can presume this is because the Pastor was German and Stember spoke German because of his German heritage. Stember was also Baptised as a Lutheran as a baby according to his memoirs.  

The artists daughter Natasha married Charles Voinoff=Warren.  His sister Olga married Ralph Fuhrman and they lived in Kansas.  It is not known if the Pastor Fuhrman in this portrait is a relative or not.
