There is no information available on the model or the origination of the painting. The background however is very similar to a series of nudes that Stember painted.  See # 142, 143, 144, 145 and 157. other paintings of Stember's were made into postcards and sold for a Russian charity organization called the Lubanskoye Society about the Care of Beggars.
