A Coquette

A Coquette is a 1915 portrait by the Russian artist Victor Stember.
The original black and white photo of this painting is in the family album compiled by the artists daughter, Natasha.
Very interestingly, the artists Grand-niece subsequently found that a painter named A.A. Kruglikov painted a copy of Stember's painting which was found in an 8th grade Russian literature textbook and is used as an illustration in a chapter entitled 'Folk Songs.' The coquette is dressed in a folk costume, maybe as a folk singer? The question would be, why did Kruglikov paint a copy instead of the publisher using Stember's original?
